Reframing School Discipline Using Proactive and Inclusive Strategies (2 Days)

  • Reviewing and analyzing current classroom management, student referral, and suspension data; highlighting limitations to traditional beliefs, policies, practices, and procedures; workshopping a range of innovative alternatives using positive behavioral supports, restorative practices, and interpersonal relationship building. 

Integrated Social Emotional Learning (1 Day)

  • Highlighting best practices and evidence-based interventions regarding social emotional learning, modified intentionally to meet the greater needs of the community to pursue equity and cultural responsiveness. 

Principles of Culturally Responsiveness and Identity Affirmation (3 Day) 

  • Developing a common language around equity, culturally responsive education, and identity-affirming practices; analyzing the difference between “mirror work” and “collective work”; learning and reflecting on promising practices and behaviors that foster identity-affirming experiences for students; determining actionable steps towards success 

Effective Leadership Using a Racial Equity Lens (1 Day) 

  • Focusing on using the principles of effective leadership to close racial achievement and opportunity gaps for students; utilizing monitoring and walkthrough tools to gather data that will inform decision making through an equity-based lens; unpacking personal and professional beliefs and practices through a racial equity lens to better serve black and brown students
